Sea Level Swim is an Australian-owned company dedicated to making a difference. We are committed to our environment and community and focused on making impactful changes – from the innovative recycled materials we use, right through to our production processes and supply chain.
To this end, we are on a journey, continually learning and advancing our cause, always with sustainability, conscious initiatives and ambitious goals in mind. We understand that when it comes to sustainable swimwear, the future starts now.
Our Fabrics
Innovation is at the core of what we do. 90% of our collections are made from recycled base cloths – this takes in all designs from our essential main lines right through to our vibrant fashion prints.
To achieve a 100% recycled garment, our team is working towards incorporating recycled linings, performance mesh and trims. Our fabric technology is industry-leading: Swim Level collections are made using a revolutionary regenerated nylon filament yarn derived from pre-consumer waste.
It’s the kind of leading technology we’ve recently been able to extend beyond our swim division, factoring in our popular board short program too. We are excited by the potential; the possibilities are unlimited.
We believe that ethical swim begins with knowledge: our design team makes a point of partnering with manufacturers who share our values and have been certified by the Global Recycle Standard.
This Standard allows us to verify the recycled content of our products, together with the social, environmental and chemical practices involved in our manufacturers’ production.
The ultimate goal of the GRS is to define every step along the manufacturing process order to ensure best possible content characteristics and good working conditions, at the same time guaranteeing any harmful environmental impacts are minimised.
Sea Level Swim has introduced a number of responsible packaging practices to minimise waste and environmental impact.
Our swing tags and label cards, for example, are FSC® approved – this stringent labeling code certifies that the wood used comes from FSC®-certified forests that require environmentally friendly forest management.
As we look to the future, we are continually examining every aspect of our packaging process and, as a result, we’ve committed to making the move to recycled poly-bags for product delivery. LDPE poly bags have a lower footprint than their fossil-based counterparts.
Our Initiatives
The journey to change is an essential part of the Sea Level Swim ethos. It is our aim to ensure our company’s workplace nurtures and encourages all employees and teams in our community by implementing a code of sustainable and ethical guidelines:
i=Change: We donate $1 from every online order to a nonprofit organisation. Each year we choose three inspiring charity initiatives that are close to our hearts. When a customer completes their transaction, they can then choose where their contribution will be directed. Find out more here.
UPPAREL: We’ve teamed with UPPAREL, a clothing recycling platform, which incentivises our Australian based customers to recycle unwanted textiles via a unique collection service. UPPAREL plays a lead role in upcycling and shaping the circular economy, and we’re encouraging our customers to take up the service by offering Sea Level Swim vouchers in return.
